One-Step Hydrothermal Synthesis Method for the Fabrication of Superhydrophobic Surface on Magnesium Alloy

摘要A simple, one-step and environment-friendly method has been developed to construct a superhydrophobic surface on magnesium alloy by hydrothermal process. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transformed infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), water contact angle measurements, and electrochemical test have been performed to characterize the superhydrophobic surface. The as-prepared surface was composed of petal-shaped and strip-shaped hierarchical micro/nanometer-scale rough structures which led to superhydrophobicity. The obtained surface showed a high contact angel of (163 degrees +/- 4 degrees) and a low sliding angle of (3 degrees +/- 1 degrees). The electrochemical tests demonstrated that the superhydrophobic surface improved the corrosion properties of Mg alloy in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution.
