AbstractThe crystallization processes of hydrated magnesium borates, boric and Mg-oxychloride from MgO-B2O3-28% MgCl2-H2O supersaturated solution at 0degreesC have been studied by kinetic method. The crystallization solid phases were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, IR spectra and chemical analysis. The liquid-solid phase diagram of thermodynamic non-equilibrium state of MgO-B2O3-28% MgCl2-H2O system at 0degreesC has been given. In this phase diagram, there exist four crystallization fields, boric acid(H3BO3), Macallisterite(MgO . 3B(2)O(3) . 7.5H(2)O), chloropinnoite(2MgO . 2B(2)O(3) . MgCl2 . 14H(2)O) and magnesium oxychloride (3Mg(OH)(2) . MgCl2 . 8H(2)O).
